A Mammotion update is available: should you install it?
What to check before you install a Mammotion firmware update, what to save first, how Mammotion says to install it, and what to watch for afterwards. Suggestions, not a verdict.

What to do next
-
Before you install, look the new version number up on our known issues and firmware timeline for your model.

Applies when: the app shows a firmware update waiting for your mower.
Worked if: you know whether owners have reported a problem with that version, or that nothing has been reported to us yet.

Method: this site's own known issues and timeline
-
Take screenshots of the version screen, your task settings and your map, and write down the date.

Applies when: you are about to install, whatever the check found.
Worked if: you have a record of how the mower was set up, for a support case if the update changes something.

Method: our suggestion: there is no way for an owner to go back to an older body firmware (see the rollback guide)
-
Install it the way Mammotion's manuals say: in the app, Device Information > Robot Version, on a stable network, and stay in the app without turning the robot off until it finishes.
Stop and get help if
the version check says "No Data": that is a separate known problem, see the No Data page.

Watch the first few runs after the update. Look at the edges and near obstacles, and compare with how it mowed before.

the mower crosses its boundary, drives into things or its blades behave differently: press STOP and do not run it unattended until support has answered.

Contact Mammotion support. Send your screenshots, the old and new version numbers and what changed, and ask them to put back the version you had. Then tell us, so the next owner sees it here.

1. Check first
Look the new version number up on our known issues and the firmware timeline. If your version isn't listed, nothing has been reported to us about it yet. That is not the same as a promise that nothing is wrong.
Mammotion's own version lists have gaps. The LUBA 2 and LUBA 2 AWD X and LUBA 3, LUBA mini 2 and YUKA mini 2 pages fill in what we have found.
Not sure whether this is an app update or a mower update? The difference matters, because they are rolled back in different ways.
2. Before you update
Take screenshots of the version screen, your task settings and your map, and write down the date. If the update changes how the mower behaves, that record is your evidence when you contact support.
It matters because you can't go back on your own. In an email an owner posted, Mammotion support said it does not support owner-started firmware downgrades. Two owners did get an older version back, by asking support to push it to them (see the rollback guide).
3. How Mammotion says to install it
The LUBA 3 AWD and LUBA mini 2 AWD manuals give the same three steps12:
- In the app, go to Device Information > Robot Version.
- Make sure the robot is on a stable network.
- While it updates, stay in the app, don't do anything else in it, and don't turn the robot off.
If the version check comes back with "No Data" instead, see the No Data page. The RTK reference station has its own update tool: see the station page.
4. When
Mammotion's LUBA 3 AWD manual says to keep both the robot and the RTK reference station on the latest firmware1. We have no source that says to wait a set time before installing.
Two owners report holding off on firmware updates they didn't need, for months, without trouble (see tips and FAQ). One owner who had turned updates off found the setting changed for them (see the perimeter and blade-stop guide), so it is worth checking that setting now and then.
5. After you update
For the first few runs, watch it at the edges and near obstacles, and compare with how it mowed before. If it crosses its boundary, drives into things or its blades behave differently, press STOP and don't leave it running unattended until support has answered.
If something changed, contact Mammotion support with your screenshots and both version numbers. You can't go back to the old version yourself, but you can ask support to push it back to your mower: the rollback guide says how owners did it. Then tell us what happened, so the next owner finds it here.
