Husqvarna names its messages; it does not number them. Each shows what the app shows: a name such as "Trapped" or "No loop signal", then the cause and the action. It may show the name in your own language; we give the manual's English.
420, 430X, 440 and 450X: what stops the mower
From the 420, 430X, 440 and 450X manual, fault messages, pages 38 to 411.
| Message | Cause, per the manual | What Husqvarna says to do |
|---|---|---|
| Wheel motor blocked; Wheel motor blocked right or left; Wheel motor overloaded | Grass or another object is wound around the drive wheel | Examine the wheel and remove the grass or object |
| Cutting system blocked | Grass or an object around the blade disc; or the blade disc standing in water | Clear the blade disc; or move the product and stop water collecting in the work area |
| Cutting height blocked | Grass or an object in the cutting-height adjustment, or between the blade disc and the chassis | Examine the blade disc and the bellows around the adjustment and clear what is stuck |
| Trapped | The product is blocked in a small area behind several obstacles | Look for the obstacles that make it hard to move away |
| Slipped / No drive | It hit an obstacle, or the wheels cannot grip wet grass; the work area includes a steep slope; the guide wire is not laid at an angle on a slope | Free it, and wait for the lawn to dry; isolate steeper slopes; lay a guide wire on a slope at an angle across it |
| Charging station blocked | Poor contact between the charging strips and the contact strips after several tries; an object in the way; the station is tilted or bent | Check the contact; remove the object; put the station on fully flat, level ground |
| Stuck in charging station | The product slips on the baseplate; an object stops it leaving | Clean the baseplate; remove the object |
A gap in the manual: the slope row reads "Maximum guaranteed slope is %" with the figure missing1. The 520/550 EPOS manual prints the same sentence with 45%2; that is a different manual and a different product, so we do not read it back into the 420/430X sentence.
420, 430X, 440 and 450X: the boundary wire and the loop signal
From the same manual, pages 39 and 401.
| Message | Cause, per the manual | What Husqvarna says to do |
|---|---|---|
| No loop signal | Nine causes: the power supply or low-voltage cable is not connected, or is damaged; the boundary wire is not connected to the station, or is broken; ECO mode is on and the product started outside the station; the wire is crossed on its way to and from an island; the product does not find the station's loop signal; metal objects or buried cables close by; the product is too far from the wire | Check the station's LED and power; replace a damaged supply or cable; refit the wire connectors; find and splice a break with an original coupler; put the product in the station and start it; lay the wire correctly round an island; make a new loop signal; move the wire or add islands to strengthen the signal; redo the wire so no part of the lawn is more than 35 m (115 ft) from it |
| Outside work area | Six causes: wire connections crossed at the station; the wire too close to the edge; the work area slopes too much by the wire; the wire laid the wrong way round an island; metal objects or buried cables; another installation's signal close by | Connect the wire correctly; lay it down correctly; move it or add islands; make a new loop signal |
| Wrong PIN code | An incorrect PIN was entered; five tries are allowed, then the product is blocked for a time | Enter the correct PIN; if it is lost, use the app's link to send it to the registered e-mail address, or speak to an authorised service centre |
420, 430X, 440 and 450X: lift, tilt and collision
From the same manual, page 411.
| Message | Cause, per the manual | What Husqvarna says to do |
|---|---|---|
| Upside down | The product is leaning too far or has turned over | Turn it the right way up |
| Mower tilted | It is tilted more than the maximum angle | Move it to a flat area |
| Lifted | The lift sensor is engaged because the product hit an object or is blocked | Free the product; if the problem stays, speak to your approved servicing dealer |
| Collision sensor problem, front or rear | The body cannot move freely around its chassis; or the product is stuck | Remove dirt or objects between the chassis and the body; free the product and rectify the cause |
420, 430X, 440 and 450X: battery and charging
From the same manual, pages 40 to 431.
| Message | Cause, per the manual | What Husqvarna says to do |
|---|---|---|
| Empty battery | The product cannot find the station; the battery is spent; the station's antenna is damaged | Change the guide wire's position and check the settings for how the product finds the station; replace the battery; check whether the station lamp flashes red, which needs an authorised service technician |
| Battery problem | A temporary battery or firmware issue; or the wrong type of battery | Restart, and if it stays speak to your dealer; use only original batteries Husqvarna recommends |
| Battery temperature outside limits | The battery is too hot or too cold, so the product will not operate | It starts again when the temperature is within limits and the schedule allows; put the station in a place protected from the sun |
| Charging current too high | A wrong or faulty power supply | Restart; if it stays, speak to your dealer |
| Charging system problem | Corrosion or dirt on the charging plates and contact plates; or a temporary electronic or firmware problem | Restart and clean both sets of plates; if it stays, speak to your dealer |
| Needs manual charging | The product is set to the Secondary area operating mode | Place it in the station; the manual calls this normal |
420, 430X, 440 and 450X: schedule, alarms and the rest
From the same manual, pages 41 to 431.
| Message | Cause, per the manual | What Husqvarna says to do |
|---|---|---|
| Next start hh:mm | The schedule prevents the product operating; or its clock is wrong | Change the schedule; set the time |
| Alarm! messages (switched off, stopped, lifted, tilted, outside GeoFence) | The alarm was activated because the product was switched off, stopped, lifted, tilted or taken outside the GeoFence | Adjust the security settings in the Security menu |
| Connectivity problem | A possible problem on the connectivity circuit board | Restart; if it stays, speak to your dealer |
| Zone generator problem, FlexiFence problem | The FlexiFence accessory's battery is low, or it is too hot | Charge the accessory before starting the product; put it in the shade |
| Cutting system major imbalance | Vibrations in the blade disc | Continued operation can damage the cutting system; check the blades and screws, and that there is only one blade in each position |
One cause and one action for a whole block. The manual lists these messages together against a single cause, a temporary electronic or firmware issue, and a single action: restart the product, and if the problem stays, speak to your approved servicing dealer1. The block is Electronic problem; Loop sensor problem, front or rear; Tilt sensor problem; Temporary problem; Wheel drive problem, right or left; Invalid device combination; Ultrasonic problem; GPS navigation problem; Temporary battery problem; and Faulty mix of batteries. Do not read the cause of the first one as belonging to it alone.
420, 430X, 440 and 450X: information messages
The manual lists these separately, as messages that may be found in the Messages menu of the Automower Connect app, pages 43 to 451.
| Message | Cause, per the manual | What Husqvarna says to do |
|---|---|---|
| Low battery | The product cannot find the station; the battery is spent; the station's antenna is damaged | As for Empty battery above |
| Settings restored | A Reset all user settings was carried out | Normal, nothing to do |
| Limited cutting height; Unexpected cutting height adj; Limited cutting height range; Cutting height problem; Cutting height blocked | The cutting-height adjustment cannot move | Clear grass or objects from it; if it stays, speak to your dealer |
| Cutting system imbalance | Vibrations in the blade disc | Check the blades and screws are intact, all blades are correctly mounted, and there are no double blades |
| Slope too steep | The slope stopped the product | Change the wire installation to leave out the steep part |
| Guide 1, 2 or 3 not found | The guide wire is not connected to the station; it is broken; or it is not connected to the boundary loop | Check the connector at the station; find the break and splice with an original coupler; check it joins the boundary loop |
| Guide calibration failed | The product failed to calibrate the guide wire | Check the guide wires are installed as instructed; a new calibration runs the next time it leaves the station |
| Weak GPS signal | The sky is blocked over large parts of the lawn | Remove what blocks it if you can; or switch off GPS navigation and use the lawn coverage function |
| Difficult finding home | The product followed the boundary wire for several laps without finding the station | Check the installation, the corridor width setting, and that it was not started on a secondary area with the Main area setting |
| SIM card requires PIN; SIM card locked; SIM card not found | The SIM must be unlocked; replaced; or Automower Connect requires one to be inserted | Enter the right SIM PIN in the mower's menu; contact your Husqvarna representative |
| GPS navigation problem; Temporary problem with the server; Connection settings restored; GeoFence problem | A problem with the navigation equipment; a server problem; wireless settings restored after an error; poor or no communication with the GeoFence system | Contact your Husqvarna representative if one appears often; if the connection settings were restored, check and revise them |
420, 430X, 440 and 450X: the charging station's lamp
Page 451. The lamp must show solid or flashing green for a correct installation.
| Lamp | What the manual says |
|---|---|
| Green, solid | Good signals; usual operation |
| Green, flashing | Good signals and ECO mode is on |
| Blue, flashing | The boundary wire is not connected to the station, or is damaged: check the connection and replace the damaged section |
| Red, flashing | Interference in the station's antenna: speak to Husqvarna customer service |
| Red, solid | Error in the circuit board or the wrong power supply; an authorised service technician must correct it |
What the tables do not tell you
They say what Husqvarna tells owners to do. They say nothing about how often a message appears or whether the action works. The owner-report pages in the fault and error message reference are for that. A message name that is not on this page may still be in your manual.
Nothing here matches your symptom?
A fault that isn't listed here doesn't mean nothing is wrong with your mower. The manufacturer's own manual is linked from this page, and the guides for this brand are listed on its overview.

If your code isn't here
-
Find the message the app shows in the tables on this page and read the manual's cause and action for it. Many messages list more than one cause: read them all before you act.
More about this step
Applies when: the app or the mower shows a message.
Worked if: you have Husqvarna's own action for that message, not a forum guess at what it means.
Didn't work? Next: step 2 — Look at the lamp on the charging station. A wire model should...
Method: the fault and information message tables in Husqvarna's 420, 430X, 440 and 450X operator's manual, read row by row for this page
-
Look at the lamp on the charging station. A wire model should show solid or flashing green. A flashing blue lamp is the manual's sign that the boundary wire is not connected to the station or is damaged; a flashing red lamp, a problem with the station's antenna; a solid red lamp, an error in the circuit board or the power supply.
More about this step
Applies when: the message is about the loop signal, the charging station or leaving or finding it, or the mower stops with no message you can match.
Worked if: you know whether the problem is the station and its wire rather than the mower.
Didn't work? Next: step 3 — Open the owner-report page for your message. Find it from the...
Method: the charging-station lamp table in the manual

Open the owner-report page for your message. Find it from the table on the fault and error message reference, to see what other owners found and how many of them found it.
More about this step
Applies when: the manual's action did not fix it, or your message is in that table.
Worked if: you have what owners actually did about it, beside what the manual says.
Didn't work? Next: step 4 — Speak to your Husqvarna representative or approved servicing...
Method: the owner-report pages named in that table; what they hold is stated on each
-
Speak to your Husqvarna representative or approved servicing dealer. Do this if the same message keeps coming back, as the manual says.
Stop and get help if
the station lamp is solid red: the manual says an authorised service technician must correct that, so leave the station alone.
More about this step
Applies when: the message comes back after you have followed the manual's action.
Worked if: someone with the diagnostic tool reads the mower, or you know the dealer's terms.
Method: the manual's own wording on repeated messages
