A stolen Mammotion mower: what owners did to get one back, and why many now add a tracker
Two owners had a mower taken from the front yard within a day of each other in September 2026. What worked for the ones who got theirs back, what Mammotion told an owner who called, and where owners put an AirTag on the LUBA mini 2.

What to do next
-
Open the app and look at the mower's location straight away, and keep checking. One owner whose location did not show at first got a notification some time later that the mowing job was resuming, looked at the location, and found the mower. Another got the police to recover theirs after the thief turned it on and it got a GPS fix.
Stop and get help if
if the location leads to a house, go to the police with it rather than to the door. The owners who recovered theirs this way did.

File a police report with the mower's serial number and its price. Give them any camera footage and any location you have. One owner who did that with a tracker location had the mower back the same day. Do not expect help from Mammotion: one owner who called was told nothing could be done other than a police report.

Applies when: you cannot locate the mower yourself.
Worked if: the police have what they need to act, and the serial number can be matched if the mower turns up.

If you still have the mower, or are buying another, add a separate tracker. Owners who recovered mowers did it with an AirTag. Placement varies by model, and owners disagree about whether anything should be fitted on the mini 2, so read the notes below first.
Stop and get help if
do not put anything over the camera, the sensors or the antenna: an owner warns that something on the shell could disturb the mower's vision.

Applies when: you want to be able to find the mower if it is taken.
Worked if: you have a location that does not depend on the mower's own connection.

What happened
On 18 September 2026 an owner posted that a man had taken the mower from the lawn in daylight, and that its location was not showing in the app1. The next day a second owner posted that a car had pulled up and a man had taken the mower from their front yard; that mower did not have the 4G option5.
What got a mower back
- The mowing job resuming. The first owner's mower was found because someone pressed buttons on it, and the app sent a notification that the job was resuming. The owner checked the location, and their partner drove past to look1.
- A tracker. An owner whose mower carried an AirTag showed the police its location in the Find My app, gave them the price, and had the mower back the same day. Two people were arrested about two months later, from doorbell and security footage2.
- The thief switching it on. An owner of a LUBA 2 says it was recovered because the thief turned it on and it got a GPS fix4.
What did not help
- Calling Mammotion. The first owner was told nothing could be done other than a police report3.
- The mower's own location. Owners disagree on how reliably it reports. In the first thread an owner says it gives no location about half the time, even in their own backyard9. In the second, an owner says that even with 4G it fails to connect when the mower resumes from sleep6. The second owner also asked whether Mammotion alerts you if someone links the mower to another account, and was told it does not at present5. In a different thread a Mammotion staff account said each device can be bound to only one account at a time, that its location refreshes in the app once the mower is powered back on, and that nobody else can use it without the owner's authorization; for real-time location it suggested a tracker such as an AirTag13.
Where owners put a tracker
- LUBA mini 2. One owner says there is a recess under the white cap that surrounds the rain sensor and part of the STOP button, where an AirTag fits7. Another owner says the mini 2 has no slot at all, that its SIM is an eSIM, and that anything fitted to the shell could interfere with the vision system8. A Mammotion staff account told another owner in the stolen-mower thread that on the Mini 2 you can open the top shell and put an AirTag in the recess next to the 4G module12. The staff tip does not say whether that is the same recess as the one under the white cap, and the second owner says there is no slot at all, so look inside your own mower before you glue or drill anything.
- Other models. One owner has two trackers, one under the hood in a small round spot and one in the sealed battery area10. Another bought a waterproof case and glued it to the underside of the deck11. These are individual choices, not anything Mammotion documents.
