LUBA mini 2: map a lawn section you can only reach by carrying the mower
A LUBA mini 2 can have a separate mowing area that no path connects to the rest of the lawn, such as a lower terrace behind a retaining wall. The steps a Mammotion staff account gave, the step one owner found they could not skip, and what you have to do each time you mow it.

What to do next
-
Tap Create Area. When the app asks you to control the mower to the new area, first drive the mower inside the existing mapped area and make a short path leading out of it, towards the new section.
More about this step
Applies when: the new section cannot be joined to the rest of the lawn by a path, for example behind a retaining wall.
Worked if: the app has a path to carry on from. The owner who tried it says everything they tried without this path just lost signal.
Didn't work? Next: step 2 — Keep the mower powered on and carry it level, not with one hand....

Keep the mower powered on and carry it level, not with one hand. Keep the front cameras clear, so your hands do not cover them. Put it down in the new section, keeping it level.
Stop and get help if
the app loses the mower after you carry it: put it back on the mapped area and start again from the short path.

Drive the mower round the edge of the new section to close its boundary. The temporary path then disappears and the separate area is created. Make a mowing task for that area. Leave out gravel or anything else you do not want mowed when you map, or mark it as a no-go zone.

Applies when: the mower is standing in the new section.
Worked if: the lower section is its own area with its own task.

Tell us your model and app version and whether the steps worked, or where the mower lost signal.

Applies when: you tried the steps.
Worked if: the next owner knows the steps hold on more than one mower.

What the app does
A LUBA mini 2 owner with a lower section behind a 1.2 metre retaining wall asked how to map it, since no path could join the two levels1. A Mammotion staff account answered that the LUBA mini 2 supports a separate mowing area even when two areas cannot be physically connected1.
The steps Mammotion gave
- Tap Create Area. The app asks you to control the mower to the new area to start mapping1.
- First drive the mower inside the existing mapped area and make a short section of path leading from it1.
- Carry the mower to the new area. Keep it powered on and level, do not carry it with one hand, and keep the front cameras unobstructed. After you move it, the temporary path should keep showing on the map1.
- Put the mower down level in the lower area and drive it round to close the boundary. The temporary path then disappears and the separate area is created1.
- Make a separate mowing task for that area. Each time you want it mowed, carry the mower there by hand and start that task1.
- Gravel or anywhere else you do not want mowed should be left out of the map when you create it, or set as a no-go zone1.
What one owner found
The same owner came back after trying it many times. They say the nuance is that you pick the mower up and have to make the connecting path to the new lawn, and that everything they tried without it lost signal2. A LUBA 3 owner in that thread describes the same flow, and when the task is done the mower stops because there is no channel and you carry it back to a mapped area. That owner says they have not used the feature themselves2.
What is not known
The steps are from one Mammotion staff account and one owner, and only for the LUBA mini 2. Whether the same menu and steps hold on a LUBA 3 or other models is not stated.
