LUBA 3 and LUBA mini 2: the app shows the mower as offline away from home or on the dock

LUBA 3 AWD and LUBA mini 2 AWD owners report the Mammotion app showing the mower as offline, mostly away from home or while it sleeps on the dock, even with Wi-Fi and 4G working and push messages still arriving. What owners tried (restarting the app, switching Wi-Fi off on the mower, an older app version) and what Mammotion's accounts say.

What to do next

  1. Close the Mammotion app completely on your phone and open it again. Then restart the phone, and make sure the app is the latest version.

    More about this step

Applies when: the app shows the mower as offline although it has power and signal.

Worked if: the app asks the mower for its state afresh, which cleared the offline label for some owners.

  2. In the app, switch the mower's Wi-Fi off so that it connects over 4G. Wait for it to show online, then switch Wi-Fi back on. A Mammotion account says its smart sleep mode only takes effect over a 4G connection.

    More about this step

Applies when: the mower shows offline whenever you are away from home, or after it has slept on the dock.

Worked if: the mower connects over 4G, which is the link that works when you are away from home.

  3. If the mower is on its charging station and powered on, the app should show it as asleep rather than offline. Give the power button on top a short press, not a long press, which restarts it. A Mammotion account says a LUBA 2 AWD that is off the dock and idle goes to low power and then switches itself off, and then shows as offline.

Applies when: the app says offline and you can reach the mower.

Worked if: you know whether the mower is asleep, switched off, or really out of contact.

  4. Send Mammotion support your mower model, your app version and firmware version. Add a screenshot of the app showing it offline, and the app logs uploaded from the app.

    Stop and get help if

you need to reach a running mower and the app will not connect: go to it, because one owner still received task messages while the app showed the mower offline.

Applies when: the label stays offline after the steps above.

Worked if: support has the items its accounts ask for.

  5. Tell us your model, app version, firmware version and what changed the label, or that nothing did.

Applies when: you found a fix, or none of the steps helped.

Worked if: the next owner can tell whether the app version, the sleep mode or the network is behind it.

Before you start: an offline label does not always mean the mower has stopped. One owner still got messages that a task had started and that the mower was charging while the app showed it offline. If you need to know what it is doing, go and look.

What owners report

  • A LUBA mini 2 AWD 1000, about a week old, shows online with a working 4G link at home, and as "Offline" whenever its owner is away, for example at work. Its owner cannot start a task or check its state, yet still gets push messages that a task started or that it began charging2. A LUBA 3 AWD owner and another owner there say the same, one adding that they can never connect when not on the same Wi-Fi as the mower2.
  • A LUBA owner with decent Wi-Fi sees the mower go offline in the app and come back online after some time1. Another says that in a few versions back the app switched over on its own when a remote connection started, and that the latest version drops it1.
  • An owner with full Wi-Fi and 4G says it stays connected for anywhere from 30 seconds to five minutes1. Another LUBA 3 owner needs 6 to 10 attempts to connect since turning on sleep mode1.
  • A LUBA 3 on the dock shows online, then offline, then fails to wake. Its owner says the app does not track the sleep, and needs a restart before it can connect1.

What Mammotion says

  • Switch to 4G and send details. A Mammotion account asked the first owner to switch the network mode to 4G, to upload the app logs and to give the device model. A second account asked for the app version, the firmware version and the logs1.
  • Check the phone and restart. For the mini 2 owner, an account asked whether the app connects after a push message, to check the phone has stable mobile data, to update the app and to restart both the app and the phone. It asked for a screenshot of the offline label and the app logs2.
  • Smart sleep needs 4G. To a LUBA 3 AWD owner whose mower would not wake, an account wrote that smart sleep mode only takes effect over 4G. It suggested switching off Wi-Fi in the app, then trying to wake the mower. With the mower on the station and powered on, it said, the app shows asleep rather than offline, and a short press on the top button, not a long press, may wake it4.
  • Idle and off the dock. An account told a LUBA 2 AWD owner that a mower off its station, not linked to the app and on standby goes into low power after a while and then switches itself off, and that it then shows as offline in the app3.

What owners say helped

  • Wi-Fi off on the mower until it joins 4G, then back on. One owner says it fixed theirs after a week or two of trouble2. It did not work for the mini 2 owner, who tried 4G only2.
  • Restarting the app. One owner says restarting it almost always helps. Before that, power cycling the charging station was the only way they could connect to their LUBA 3 on the dock1. Another says a full restart of the mower, after closing the app on the phone, cleared it1.
  • An older app. One owner says remote control did not work on app 2.3.20.30, and works again after installing 2.3.18.20. The mini 2 owner asked how to get the older version and the thread does not say2.
  • Signing in with a Google account. One owner's offline problem went when they connected the app to a Google account instead of a username and password. The first owner already used Google sign-in, so it did not apply to them1.

What is not known

No source says what causes it. Owners point at a recent app version, the mower's sleep mode, an overloaded server and, for one owner at work, an office network that may block the connection12. These are guesses, and the fixes above each worked for one owner and not for another.

If the app instead loses a nearby Bluetooth link, see Bluetooth connection drops or won't connect.
