Automower 320, 430X and 450X NERA after a firmware update
Owners of the Automower 320 NERA, 430X NERA and 450X NERA write that a firmware update changed how their mower behaves: more stops on satellite search, an "enclosed" error on open lawn, a charging station that never got the update, or a new transport-path feature that did not work as they expected. Others on the same versions report no change.

What to do next
-
Write down the mower's firmware version and the charging station's, and the date the trouble began. In the app, owners look under More, My mowers, Mower details. Owners disagree on whether you must be connected to the mower by Bluetooth to see the station's version.
More about this step
Applies when: a NERA mower behaves differently after an update.
Worked if: you can tell the dealer or Husqvarna exactly which versions you run, and see whether the station was left behind.
Didn't work? Next: step 2 — Switch off the mower, then the charging station (and the...
Method: one owner's menu path; two owners say Bluetooth is needed to see the station version; four owners could not see the station version at all, and one of them saw it after setting up EPOS
-
Switch off the mower, then the charging station (and the antenna, if you have one). Wait about ten minutes, then switch on the station first and the mower second. One owner who had many stops on satellite search did this and the stops went away; another saw it run well afterwards but could not judge until the next season.

Applies when: the mower stops on open lawn to search for satellites after an update.
Worked if: the mower finds satellites again, or you know a restart is not enough.

Method: one owner cured (a mower without EPOS), one partly (and later reports more stops after a newer firmware); a third says cutting power clears his charging-station errors and plans a nightly timer

Acknowledge the error in the app and let the mower carry on. Do this if the display says the robot is enclosed while it stands on open lawn. Two owners say it then continues.

Applies when: the mower stops with that message and nothing is in its way.
Worked if: the mower carries on mowing.
Didn't work? Next: step 4 — Open the map and look at the transport paths and the points...
Method: five owners report the message after updates; two say acknowledging it works
-
Open the map and look at the transport paths and the points where they enter an area. One owner found a spike in a path outside the station after an update, corrected the points, and the mower reached the area again. If the mower has been found far outside its work area, or has fallen, switch it off and call the dealer.
Stop and get help if
the mower leaves its work area or tips over: switch it off and take it to the dealer; do not draw the map again over it.
More about this step
Applies when: a work area is no longer approached after an update.
Worked if: the mower reaches every area again, or you have a safety fault in front of a person.
Didn't work? Next: step 5 — Ask the dealer to read the versions with the diagnostic tool....
Method: one owner who corrected a spike; two owners found their mower far outside the area after 79.2, one with a fall after 79.4; no cure is reported for those
-
Ask the dealer to read the versions with the diagnostic tool. Write to Husqvarna with both version numbers and what changed. One owner whose update never appeared says Husqvarna put the mower on a 'whitelist' and promised the update within hours; he reports none had arrived when he wrote.
More about this step
Applies when: none of the above helped, or an update is not offered.
Worked if: someone with the manufacturer's tools looks at your mower, or the update is offered.
Method: one owner relaying Husqvarna's reply; one owner whose dealer read the mower's version on a laptop
On this page
"EPOS" is Husqvarna's satellite navigation; some owners use a reference station on the roof, others the Husqvarna cloud.
What the release notes say
Husqvarna's list gives, for each mower version, a month, new features and a line or two of changes2. It lists no failure counts, no affected units and no rollout dates. Every entry from 54.2 (2024-02) to 112.3 (2026-07) is marked "not mandatory, but highly recommended"2.
- 66.5 (2024-07): "Improved behaviour to get EPOS fix faster"2.
- 79.2 (2025-06): improved slip detection, improved navigation in narrow corridors, improved EPOS performance and dimmed charging-station lights at night2.
- 79.4 (2025-09): general behaviour and connectivity improvements; it does not mention the edge-mowing switch owners found2.
- 98.4 (2026-02): one transport path to connect several work areas2.
- 112.2 (2026-06) and 112.3 (2026-07): the cutting disc turns off in transit and improved EPOS with a reference station; then a fix for an issue caused by entering the wrong password too many times2.
Several owners say the page lags the real releases. For 66.5, 66.7, 66.9, 79.4, 90.10 and 112.2 owners looked for notes and found none for days or longer1. An owner who read the German page in February 2026 names 94.8 as that month's version; Husqvarna's Irish page said 98.4, so the two disagree.
What changed after the firmware updates
These counts are of owners in this one thread, not of mowers.
More stops on satellite search: three owners. One owner's mower stopped on open lawn to search for satellites about two weeks after 66.7 and "very often", which stretched the mowing time; the same owner wrote in March 2026, after the newer firmware, that it stopped for satellite search more often than the year before, though it mowed as usual. A second owner's mower stopped five times on satellite search under open sky within two days of 79.2, after one stop in three months. A third found that the satellite search after charging or at the morning start took five to ten times longer after 79.21. One further owner, without EPOS, had the same stops and says switching off first the mower and then the station for about ten minutes cured it1. Other owners on 57.11, 66.7, 79.2, 79.4 and later versions report no problems1. One owner warns that satellite trouble need not be the firmware, since signal quality depends on many things, and notes that the app shows no satellite strength, so users cannot narrow it down1.
"Robot is enclosed" on open lawn: five owners. Two owners saw it more often after the June 2024 update; one saw it after 79.2 on boundaries that ran at a shallow angle to the mowing lane; two met it with Support by Wire switched on, one of them occasionally together with a "destination not reachable" message1. Two owners say acknowledging the error in the app lets the mower continue; one adds that he had seen this for half a year, and that on the day he installed 79.4 the mower mowed without the fault1.
Boundary overruns and a mower outside its area: four owners. After 79.4, two owners had the mower cross the boundary by about 15 cm (6 in), once with a fall, and not while mowing the edge. After 79.2, one owner twice found the mower far outside its work area in three days and asked whether to draw the areas again; another found a work area no longer approached because a transport path had a spike next to the station. He corrected the points and it worked again1. One owner with ten areas answers that redrawing them would be a disaster and that he had to correct only a little1.
A fast drop in battery percentage after leaving the station: three owners. One owner's 78.5 mower showed 100% in the station and fell to 82 to 91% within a minute; the mower needed 70 to 80 minutes before going home at 30%. A second reports 100% falling to 75% in two minutes with 36% of the area mown where it had done over 60%; at 100% after the charge there was no such drop, so the owner rules out a faulty battery. A third has the same on a new unit that came as a warranty exchange1. A fourth poster guesses at a new battery-protection feature, which is a guess1. The release notes for 78.5 say only "general operational improvements and bug fixes"2.
Edge mowing can be switched off: three owners confirm. On 79.4, three owners with a 305E, a 430X and a 450X found a setting to switch off edge mowing in the work area's pattern settings, visible only under the systematic pattern1.
Cutting height will not change until a restart: two owners. Two owners write about a mower that refuses a change of cutting height until it is restarted. One had already had the dealer calibrate it. One poster says many owners never had it. Whether 79.2 helped is not stated1.
A withdrawn update, and a station left behind
79.2 disappeared and came back. Owners who had a push message about the June 2025 update could no longer install it, and the Husqvarna page showed only 78.10 for a time. Three owners say it looked withdrawn1. One owner's mower received 79.2 on 8 July 2025, and the next day another saw the page describe it again with the same text1. We do not know why it was pulled, and no owner reports a Husqvarna explanation.
Updates not offered. One owner whose mower had been at the dealer was no longer offered the update. A support reply, as relayed by that owner, said the mower would be put on a "whitelist", that the update should be available within hours and that Husqvarna was working on improving the update process; he wrote that none had arrived1. His mower received 79.2 on 9 July1. We cannot tell whether the whitelist did it. Another owner says a Husqvarna chat told him the dealer releases versions; two others in the thread doubt that, saying the mower checks a Husqvarna server about once a week1.
The station stayed on 68.3: about nine owners. Owners with 79.2 or 79.4 on the mower found the charging station still on 68.3, or 68.21. One reports that Husqvarna's support told him by phone that the station update had not been withdrawn and that mower and station may not update together; that is relayed1. In September 2025 one owner noticed that the station update had vanished from the Husqvarna page for his 410XE, and in November 2025 an owner saw the page changed to show 79.2 as the current station version, while his own station remained on 68.31. One owner got a station update, 90.4, in September 2025 with no description1. No owner shows that a station left behind caused a fault; one wonders whether the dimmed lights need the matching station version, and that is a guess.
The station version in the app. Four owners did not see the station's version in the app. A dealer and Husqvarna's support told two of them, as relayed, that the app does not show it; other owners posted screenshots that do. One owner saw it only after setting up EPOS1.
Whether the station updates over the air: owners disagree. In a French thread a 450X NERA owner found that his station's version had not changed since he bought the mower in 2024, although Husqvarna announces station updates with the mower's3. Another owner relayed his dealer's statement that a station can only be updated at a dealer, then looked in his own logbook and found that his 430X NERA's station had received versions over the air, from 47.6 in 2023 to 57.5 in June 2024, and later reported 68.3 arriving the same way3. The 450X owner's dealer confirmed on a visit that only a dealer can do it; a third owner's dealer updated the station, yet the app went on showing the old version3. On 7 May 2025 the 450X owner saw his station's version change for the first time since June 2024, and in July 2025 another owner's station stayed behind while the mower updated3. In September 2025 an owner posted Husqvarna France's customer-service reply, as relayed: station updates are "not always" available directly in the app and are generally done through an authorised dealer3. So some stations updated by themselves and some owners were sent to a dealer. No owner shows a fault caused by an old station version; the 450X owner suspects his third guide wire was never recognised because of it and says that is a guess3.
The transport-path feature (98.4, February 2026)
Husqvarna's note says it is now possible to create one transport path that connects several work areas2. Six owners tried it and report it did not work as described1.
- A 430X mower that finished one area tried to go straight to the next but wandered until the owner sent it to the station.
- A 430X owner who drew the path with entry and exit points as the article says finds the mower still goes back after every area.
- A third owner can reach each area from the dock over one path, but has not seen it go directly from area to area.
- A 405VE owner (a model the article does not list) and a second owner get the message "no transport path for this area" every time. If they confirm it in the app, the mower drives there and mows. One says it looks as if the app and firmware do not fit together.
- One 405VE owner could not connect adjoining areas with one path at all. Another owner guesses that the 405VE cannot do it yet; we cannot confirm that.
One owner says that when schedules are set on both areas the mower simply continues to the next area; another reports that a mower he sends to one area alone now goes on to the next1. One owner explains that this happens when both areas have a schedule.
Owners with no change
Not everyone had trouble. After 57.11 an owner saw nothing odd. Owners report 66.7, 79.4, the February 2025 update and the 2026 firmware running without problems, one with 1,200 m² (⅓ acre) a day on the cloud1. One 410XE owner reports the 2026 firmware problem-free1, and later reports a change: the mower now pauses when an exclusion zone is edited, where it used to stop and carry on by itself. Two owners say it has never carried on for them, on any version1. One owner waits a week or so after each release and installs only if no new problems are reported1.
What's unknown
- That any version is the cause. The same versions ran without trouble for other owners.
- That a restart or any setting is a fix. The one restart report with a clear result comes from an owner without EPOS.
- Why 79.2 was pulled. Owners guess; Husqvarna's reasons are not in the thread.
- How common any of this is. These are the owners who posted, not a count of mowers.
- Whether the cutting-height fault has been cured. Nobody reports.
