Scope of this page: the tables below are Husqvarna's own fault and information messages for the Automower 540, 560, 580 and 580L EPOS, from its operator's manual (edition line 2550 - 005, no date printed)1. A message on another model can differ: the fault and error message reference lists the manual for each model, and the owner-report pages for the same messages. Each cause and action is put in plain words; the meaning is the manual's.

Husqvarna names its messages; it does not number them. Each shows what Husqvarna Fleet Services shows: a name such as "Trapped" or "Slipped", then the cause and the action. It may show the name in your own language; we give the manual's English.

540, 560, 580 and 580L EPOS: what stops the mower

From section 7.1.1, Messages, pages 35 to 39 and 41 to 42 of the manual. The manual says these messages are shown in the app and to speak to your Husqvarna representative if the same message shows frequently1. The mower is wire-free (EPOS), so the manual has few wire messages: a cause under No charging station signal for a station installed with a dock by wire, the Guide 1 not found message, and two lamp rows.

Message Cause, per the manual What Husqvarna says to do
Cutting system blocked Grass or another object blocks the blade disc; the blade disc is in water; the grass is high and thick Examine the blade disc and remove the grass or object; move the product and stop water collecting in the work area; set the cutting height to the height of the grass and lengthen the operation time in the schedule1
Trapped The product is behind a number of obstacles in a small area Look for obstacles that make it hard to move away and remove them1
Slipped The product hit an obstacle and stopped, or the wheels cannot move on the wet grass; the work area includes a steep slope Move the product and correct the cause; if it is wet grass, wait until the lawn is dry; make a stay-out zone to leave the steep area out of the work area1
Slope too steep The product stopped because the slope is too steep Change the installation and leave that part of the work area out1
Collision The body cannot move freely around the chassis; or the product cannot move forward or rearward Remove dirt or objects between the chassis and the body, and make sure the body can move freely; remove the object that stops the product from operating1
Wheel drive problem, right or left; Wheel motor overloaded, right or left; Wheel motor blocked, right or left The wheel is blocked by grass or other objects; or grass or objects are wound around the drive wheel Examine the drive wheel and remove the grass or objects1
Radar problem The product keeps working but at reduced speed Clean the window for the radar; restart the product; if the problem stays, speak to your approved servicing dealer1
Outside work area The work area slopes too much by the virtual boundary; the transport path or the path to the maintenance point slopes too much; the product cannot find the correct charging station signal because of interference from a loop signal from a different installation nearby; metal objects such as fences, reinforcement steel or buried cables near the station Make sure the virtual boundary is installed correctly; make sure the transport path is installed correctly; put the product in the station and make a new loop signal; change the position of the charging station1
No charging station signal The mains cable is not connected; the mains cable is damaged; ECO mode is on, the product was started by hand in the work area with the station's lamp flashing green but STOP was not pushed first, so the signal is off and the product cannot enter the station; the product cannot find the loop signal; the station is not installed correctly; interference from metal objects near the station; for a station installed with a dock by wire, the boundary wire is damaged or not installed correctly If the station's lamp is out there is no power, so check the outlet connection and the residual-current device and that the mains cable is connected; speak to your approved servicing dealer; put the product in the station (see ECO mode); put the product in the station and make a new loop signal; install the station as the instructions say; change the station's position; check the wire is connected to the station, check every splice, and repair it if damaged1
Guide 1 not found The guide wire installed before can no longer be found Check the guide wire is correctly connected to the charging station or the boundary wire, and look for a break in the guide wire1
Destination blocked An obstacle blocks the way; a stay-out zone blocks the way; there is no transport path to the work area Remove the obstacle; edit or remove the stay-out zone, or install the work area again; make a transport path to the work area1
Destination not reachable A stay-out zone blocks the way to the work area; there is no transport path to the work area; an obstacle blocks the way back to the station; an obstacle blocks the way to the maintenance point Edit or remove the stay-out zone, or install the work area again; make a transport path; remove the obstacle1
Too many waypoints There are too many waypoints in the current work area Divide the work area into several, or install it again with fewer waypoints in the work areas, stay-out zones and transport paths1
Map problem There is no work area; the map object file is incorrect Make a work area in the app; check the map in the app, adjust it and save it, or delete it and do a new installation1
Work area tampered with A temporary electronic or firmware problem; the charging station was moved; the reference station was moved Restart the product; move the station back to its original position or reinstall it in the app to set a new one; for a reference station moved to a new position, a factory reset and a new installation with all maps are needed1
Invalid firmware configuration The firmware in the product is not updated Update the firmware to the latest version1
Multiple reference stations More than one reference station is near the work area, and this can cause interference Speak to your approved servicing dealer if the same problem occurs often1

540, 560, 580 and 580L EPOS: the satellite and reference-station messages

Pages 38 and 42 of the manual1. These are the messages that the owner-report pages on satellite search and on the reference station are about.

Message Cause, per the manual What Husqvarna says to do
Searching for satellites A weak satellite signal to the reference station; or a weak satellite signal to the product The signal is temporarily weak and the product starts to operate when it is good; examine the installation of the reference station, as its manual says; look for an object between the product and the sky that interferes with the signal, and remove it or make a new installation that leaves those parts out of the work area1
Reference station communication problem Six causes: the product is not connected to the reference station; the reference station is not installed correctly; the product does not receive the station's radio signal in all the areas it works in; a power failure; an error in the reference station, with its LED flashing red; interference from another reference station or other radio systems Do a pairing between the product and the reference station; examine the reference station's installation; test whether the product has radio signal in all of the work area, and if not make a new installation of the reference station or of the map; examine and correct the cause of the power failure; disconnect the power to the reference station and connect it again, and if the problem stays speak to your approved servicing dealer; restart the product, and if it stays speak to your approved servicing dealer1
No correction data available Technical problems with EPOS through the Husqvarna Cloud; or the product has no cellular connection and cannot receive correction data Restart the product; if the problem remains, the message requires action by an authorized service technician; make sure there is cellular coverage in all parts of the area where the product operates1

540, 560, 580 and 580L EPOS: battery and charging

Pages 39 to 41 of the manual1.

Message Cause, per the manual What Husqvarna says to do
Empty battery The product cannot find the charging station (the manual's action column for this cause holds two lines that read as causes: the product has no accurate position and cannot find the station, and an obstacle stops it finding the station); the battery is at the end of its life cycle; the antenna of the charging station is defective Replace the battery (the manual says to refer to its blade-replacement section on page 32; its battery section is on page 33, and the symptoms table points there); if the lamp on the station flashes red, speak to your approved servicing dealer1
Battery problem A temporary battery or firmware problem in the product; the wrong type of battery Restart the product, and if the problem stays speak to your approved servicing dealer; use only original batteries recommended by the manufacturer1
Battery needs replacement The battery's state of health is low Replace the battery; speak to your approved servicing dealer1
Battery near end of life The battery's state of health is critically low Replace the battery; speak to your approved servicing dealer1

540, 560, 580 and 580L EPOS: the station lamp

Section 7.1.2, page 42. For a fully working installation the lamp must show a solid or flashing green light1.

Lamp Status, per the manual
Green solid Normal operation
Green flashing Normal operation: the product is parked and the signals in the station are off
Blue flashing Only for a station installed with a dock by wire: the boundary wire is damaged or not connected to the station
Yellow flashing Only for a station installed with a dock by wire: the guide wire is damaged or not connected to the station
Purple solid A firmware update of the station is going on
Red flashing An interruption in the station's antenna; speak to your local Husqvarna representative
Red solid A fault in the circuit board or an incorrect power supply in the station; the fault must be corrected by an authorized service technician, so speak to your local Husqvarna representative

540, 560, 580 and 580L EPOS: symptoms with no message

Section 7.1.3, pages 43 and 44, lists problems the product shows without a message1.

Symptom Cause, per the manual What Husqvarna says to do
The product cannot go into the charging station The station is not on a level surface; the station is put too far from the work area; another charging station installed near it causes interference Put the station on a level surface; make a new work area or move the station; make sure the distance between the stations is at least 3 m (9.8 ft)1
The product operates at the incorrect time The time and date are not set; the start and stop times for operation are incorrect Set the time and date; change the schedule settings1
There is vibration in the product The cutting system is out of balance because of damaged blades; too many blades in the same position; blades of different thickness Examine the blades and screws and replace them if needed; check that only one blade is attached to each screw; replace the blades if needed1
The product operates, but the blade disc does not rotate The product goes to the charging station Nothing to do: the blade disc does not rotate while the product goes to the station1
The product operates for shorter periods than usual between charges Grass or another object blocks the blade disc; the battery is at the end of its life cycle; the grass is high and thick Remove and clean the blade disc; replace the battery; raise the cutting height and then lower it when the grass is shorter1
Operation and charging times are shorter than usual The battery is at the end of its life cycle Replace the battery1
The product is parked for hours in the charging station The schedule setting or the "Park until further notice" setting has it parked; the battery temperature is too high or too low to operate Change the schedule settings or start the product; the product starts again when the temperature is between the set limits, so make sure the station is in a place protected from the sun1
The product cannot connect to the mobile device The product is connected to a different mobile device or app Disable the app on all other connected devices1
The cut result is not satisfactory The operating time or frequency is not enough; the work area is too large; blunt blades; the grass is long for the set cutting height; grass collects at the blade disc or around the motor shaft; the pattern or its direction does not suit the work area Increase the cutting time; set a limit to the work area or extend the operation time; replace all the blades; raise the cutting height and lower it when the grass is shorter; remove the grass and clean the product; choose a different direction or pattern1
Worn out grass in slopes The slope is too steep; the pattern or its direction does not suit the slope Isolate the slope with a stay-out zone; choose a different direction or pattern, and for the systematic pattern Husqvarna recommends the direction straight up the slope and not parallel to it1

What the tables do not tell you

They say what Husqvarna tells owners to do. They say nothing about how often a message appears or whether the action works. The owner-report pages in the fault and error message reference are for that. A message name that is not on this page may still be in your manual.

Nothing here matches your symptom?

A fault that isn't listed here doesn't mean nothing is wrong with your mower. The manufacturer's own manual is linked from this page, and the guides for this brand are listed on its overview.

If your code isn't here

  1. Find the message Husqvarna Fleet Services shows in the tables on this page. Read the manual's cause and action for it. Many messages list more than one cause: read them all before you act.

    More about this step

Applies when: the app or the mower shows a message.

Worked if: you have Husqvarna's own action for that message, not a forum guess at what it means.

Didn't work? Next: step 2 — Look at the lamp on the charging station. It should show solid...

Method: the fault and information message tables in Husqvarna's 540, 560, 580 and 580L EPOS operator's manual, read row by row for this page

  2. Look at the lamp on the charging station. It should show solid or flashing green. A purple solid lamp means a firmware update is under way; a flashing red lamp is the manual's sign of an interruption in the station's antenna; a solid red lamp, a fault in the circuit board or the power supply.

    More about this step

Applies when: the message is about the charging station or finding it, or the mower stops with no message you can match.

Worked if: you know whether the problem is the station rather than the mower.

Didn't work? Next: step 3 — Open the owner-report page for your message. Find it from the...

Method: the charging-station lamp table in the manual

  3. Open the owner-report page for your message. Find it from the table on the fault and error message reference, to see what other owners found and how many of them found it.

    More about this step

Applies when: the manual's action did not fix it, or your message is in that table.

Worked if: you have what owners actually did about it, beside what the manual says.

Didn't work? Next: step 4 — Speak to your Husqvarna representative or approved servicing...

Method: the owner-report pages named in that table; what they hold is stated on each

  4. Speak to your Husqvarna representative or approved servicing dealer. Do this if the same message keeps coming back, as the manual says.

    Stop and get help if

the station lamp is solid red: the manual says an authorised service technician must correct that, so leave the station alone.

    More about this step

Applies when: the message comes back after you have followed the manual's action.

Worked if: someone with the diagnostic tool reads the mower, or you know the dealer's terms.

Method: the manual's own wording on repeated messages
